ETHIOPIAN COFFEE
Ethiopia is where Coffea arabica, the coffee plant, originates. The plant is now grown in various parts of the world; Ethiopia itself accounts for around 17% of the global coffee market.
Our group company has a branch in Ethiopia.
We are working directly with Ethiopian farmers and producers.
After product preparation and packaging for roasted coffee, we export the coffee beans and packaged coffee to our customers all over the world.
When comparing Guji, Yirgacheffe, and Arabica, it’s important to remember that they aren’t exactly separate categories but rather describe different aspects of coffee.
* Region: Guji is a subregion of the Yirgacheffe zone in Ethiopia. So, when we refer to Guji coffee, we’re talking about coffee grown in this specific region, known for its distinct flavor profile. Guji is often regarded as specialty-grade coffee.
* Flavor Profile: Guji coffees are famous for their bright acidity, floral notes, and fruity flavors such as citrus, berry, and sometimes even peach or wine-like characteristics. It’s generally considered a complex and vibrant cup with a clean finish.
Yirgacheffe:
* Region: Yirgacheffe is a larger coffee-growing region in southern Ethiopia, and Guji is technically part of this region. Yirgacheffe coffee is among the most famous and sought-after Ethiopian coffees globally.
* Flavor Profile: Yirgacheffe coffees are often considered exceptionally clean with bright acidity, and floral, citrusy, fruity notes. It’s similar to Guji but tends to have a more refined, delicate and balanced flavor.
Arabica:
* Species: Arabica (Coffea arabica) refers to the species of the coffee plant and accounts for about 60-70% of the world’s coffee production. Arabica coffee is known for its smooth, complex flavors and higher quality compared to Robusta coffee.
* Flavor Profile: Arabica beans tend to have a cleaner cup with bright acidity and a wide variety of flavor profiles depending on where the beans are grown. The flavors can range from fruity and floral to nutty and chocolatey, and Arabica coffee is generally more refined than Robusta, with a lighter, less bitter taste.
